About the Staff
Meet the staff of Batch Bakehouse
Lauren Carter, Owner, Pastry Chef:
Baking since she could reach the counter in her mother Jane’s Arkansas kitchen, Lauren loves to blend butter & sugar & family traditions into delicious pastries. You will find the results of her work in our pastry case. Trained at the French Pastry School in Chicago, IL, Lauren worked at l’Etoile and Blackbird before running Batch Bakehouse.
Dan Mullins, Head-Baker:
Baking bread is an art-form. Dan enjoys the process, its multiple steps, and required exactitude. He takes great joy in the simple steps of the delicate process. Dan came to Batch via New Orleans, where he worked for Emeril Lagasse.
Locally Owned & Operated:
Batch Bakehouse is owned and operated by two families, both of whom live under 1 mile from the bakery: Lauren Carter and her husband, Zachary Johnson; and Ian Gurfield and his wife Susan Detering. Lauren is the creative force behind Batch’s pastry, Zach is a jack-of-all trades from delivery driver to bookkeeper. Ian (of Ian’s Pizza) is the entrepreneurial business mind, and Susan is a jane-of-all trades from design and marketing to sales. Batch is a certified Women Owned business and proud member of the Greater Williamson Area Business Association.
